ALESCO2 NEUTRAL:
List of supported climate protection projects

For all bio-film production, we at alesco support the Vamshi project in India, which promotes the use of renewable energy from biomass. This project encourages the generation of electricity from biomass. Stems from corn and chilli peppers are used for this, as well as sugar beet peelings, maize cobs, rice husks and coconut shells, which have until now been dumped as waste and not recycled in India. The project developers at Vamshi Industries Limited forecast an annual production of approximately 27 Gigawatt hours. The project is contributing to achieving India's sustainability goals, supports economic development in the region and secures the region's energy supply.

In addition to this project, alesco customers have the opportunity to support any of the following climate protection projects when placing a carbon neutral order. As is the case with the renewable energy from biomass project supported by us in India, all these projects are independently certified and continuously monitored.

Reduction in emissions via reforestation in the Congo
This project aims to protect approximately 90,000 hectares of the Samboko-Ituri rain forest in the north east of the Republic of the Congo from deforestation and logging. Furthermore, the boundary of the rain forest area is to be strengthened to prevent illegal logging activities. The long-term goal is to make the people in the region aware of the importance of sustainable actions and conservation of the biodiversity in the jungle.

Conversion to biogenic fuels in India
As an initiative for reducing the emission of greenhouse gases, waste jute fabric is being used in a jute mill in Shibpur (West Bengal, India) as an alternative to coal for firing the plant and generating steam. This project is the first of its kind in India and contributes in a number of ways to India's sustainable development goals.

Hydroelectric energy project in Guatemala
The project supports a small hydroelectric power station (8.2 Megawatt) in the Santa Rosa Department in Guatemala. This power station aims to help reduce the demand for energy generated by fossil fuels, thereby reducing CO2 emissions.

Fuel conservation project in South Africa
The objective of the BasaMagogo climate protection project in South Africa is to save on the coal used as fuel for domestic purposes. This will be achieved by means of a new way of stacking and igniting the coal, which will allow families to save up to 300 kilograms of coal each year.

Wind energy in India
The renewable energy produced as a result of the construction of a wind farm in the Indian state of Karnataka will be fed into the national electricity grid. In addition to resolving the power supply deficit there, this will also reduce the demand for energy produced from fossil fuel sources.
