alesco also wraps Dusseldorf pallets safely and stably
At the drinktec in Munich (hall A2, stand 544) alesco presents new its protection films for Dusseldorf pallets. The high stability and the holding force of the tubular stretch films (stretch hoods) are convincing. And the environment benefits from the new pallet packagings from alesco, too: In contrast to shrink films no energy is needed here to heat the films and the high stability allows a safe packing of numerous products on one pallet. On request the film is printed with solvent-free water-based colours - that pleases the environment even more. The alesco tubular stretch films are also available in other dimensions for all current size of pallets.

BIOSHRINK: compostable shrink film made of renewable raw materials
For the first time we present our latest film innovation BIOSHRINK at the drinktec 09 in Munich (hall A2 stand 544). BIOSHRINK is a compostable shrink film made of renewable raw materials according to DIN EN 13432. At first the film will be available for 6 x 0.5 litre PLA and PET beverage trading units. Other sizes of trading units will follow soon. Like all of our other bio films this new bio shrink films are produced carbon neutrally and with eco power. If required they are eco-friendly printed with solvent-free colours on water base.
Our carbon neutral bio shrink film BIOSHRINK is the fifth biofilm application alesco launches. As with our other eco-friendly films the promotionally effective presentation of your goods and the preferably environmentally friendly production of the films are the foci.

Lecture about environmentally friendly packaging
alesco CEO Philipp Depiereux as an expert in environmentally-friendly and carbon-neutral packaging speaks on the second PLA Bottle Conference on September 14 -16.2009 in Munich about the theme of environmentally friendly beverage packaging. New technologies and applications as well as recycling and markets will be other topics amongst other things. As in the preceding year, the Conference of Bioplastics MAGAZINE will be organised on the occasion of drinktec 2009 in Munich.

alesco bio-films of the next generation at the European Bioplastics Conference
At the fourth European Bioplastics Conference alesco CEO Philip Depiereux speaks among other renowned enunciators of packaging industry about environmentally-friendly films. The conference is themed as "Next Generation: Green." How does the next generation of alesco bio-films look like you can experience from 10 to 11 November 2009 in Berlin.

Climate protection project with the gold standard according to WWF criteria
With immediate effect our customers are able to support our Gold Standard certified climate protection projects in all carbon neutral productions. Now our certification partner ClimatePartner has taken this project in his portfolio. This project was evaluated according to WWF criteria.
At the climate protection project of the Chinese Landfill gas plant "Suzhou Qizi Mountain" escaping methane gas will be captured and after that this gas will be burned in a block heating station. The resulting electricity will be fed into the local power grid. This ensures approximately 23,314 MWh annually to supply the local population with electricity.
Furthermore
- the negative impact on air, soil and water will be reduced
- living conditions will be improved,
- modern and environmentally friendly technologies will be used,
- the local environmental waste management systems and the technology- and knowledge transfer in the region will be encouraged,
- 54 jobs in the period of construction and 20 jobs during the period of project are created
- an average of 114,383 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year will be saved.
About the Gold Standard:
The gold standard is an independent label, which displays the high-quality climate protection projects. Prerequisite is a consistent environmental performance and support for sustainable development for the environment, which is much more then the emission reduction. The criteria by which the gold standard certificate is awarded, were developed by the WWF (World Wide Fund For Nature), one of the largest international nature conservation organizations in the world.

alesco participates initiative "Fair Company"
alesco joined in May the initiative „Fair Company" from the Handelsblatt publishing house. Members commit themselves voluntarily, in the use of interns in the company to meet minimum standards.
This means for alesco:
-no replacing of full-time positions with interns
-to offer the Internships primarily for orientation and training during the training phase as well as
-no false announcing of full-time jobs for trainees
-no false promise for applicants to full-time jobs with an internship,
-to compensate the work of the trainees adequately!
"Here at alesco, these standards have long been traditional, but with the accession to the" Fair Company "initiative, we would like to make these standards transparent and verifiable," says managing director Philipp Depiereux. Interns at alesco and other Fair Companies will be asked after the internship, to prepare and to send the report to the initiative, and thereby the compliance with the regulations will be reviewed.

alesco's Philipp Depiereux joins European Bioplastics' Board
alesco's managing director Philipp Depiereux has been elected to the board of the industy association European Bioplastics. Andy Sweetman has been appointed as board's new chairman. Depiereux stated after the election: „It must be our key goal to strengthen the bioplastics' awareness and its position in the market. That's the only way to ensure that environmental claims on biodegradability and compostability, renewability and sustainability will be communicated effectively.
Furthermore Francesco Degli-Innocenti (Novamont), Jöran Reske (Interseroh), Jens Hamprecht (BASF), Erika Mink (Tetra Pak) and Hans van der Pol (Purac) have been elected to the board as well. Former chairman Harald Kaeb will hold the position of Secretary General within the association. Two permanent working groups, "Bioplastics and the Environment" and "Waste and Recovery" have been established.
